Where we stand

Children's Home Society of Florida supports legislation that ensures children are safe, healthy and prepared for life. Each year, we identify priorities to advance with legislators. On September, 21, 2012, the Children's Home Society of Florida Board of Directors approved its agenda for the 2013 Legislative Session. 

What's at risk

Each year, services to Florida's children and families risk being cut during the budget process. This year, we advocate for:

• The retention of existing funding for services to children and families.
• Interventions to address the needs of victims of domestic minor sex trafficking.
• Public policy to enhance efficiency for case managers.
• Maintaining the state's Medicaid Managed Care Reform efforts to serve the Medicaid population and the legislative intent to allow for Specialty Plans to be developed to serve special populations such as children in foster care.
• Changes to current public policy that will create brighter futures for youth aging out of foster care without families.
• Allocating funds from the education budget to support the development and sustainment of community schools in Florida.
